2008 Macomb Raceway UMP Street Stock Rules
CHASSIS
1.
1955 or newer American Made cars or full
size Uni-body cars. Stock wheelbase of 108 inches or more.
2.
Stock O.E.M. Frames only.
3. No
altering of stock frame except to repair rusted rear frame rails. Rear frame
may be replaced from rear shock mounts back.
4. Drive Shaft loops are required within (12) inches of front U-joint. No
aluminum drive shaft.
5. Minimum
weight is 3200 pounds at all times.
BODY
1.
All glass, chrome, and upholstery must be removed.
2. Top may be removed to install the roll cage, but the top must be replaced in
the stock location.
3. Doors can be cut out for door bars.
4. Holes in hood must be covered, hood scoops will not exceed 6 (six) inches
tall and be covered on three sides.
5. Fender
wells may only be cut out for tire clearance.
6. Floorboards and firewalls must be stock or of a comparable thickness and
close to stock location. Except to cut the floorboard for the roll cage. No
open holes in firewall allowed.
7. Trunk area
may be cut to allow for mandatory fuel cell.
8. The Fuel cell must be a steel container with two inch by 1/8 inch steel strap
on each side to securely mount the fuel cell.
9. Body must be mounted in stock location. No exposed tubing or bracing outside
of the bodyline of car. Body must be steel stock appearing body.
10.
Plastic or aftermarket noses are allowed but cannot be the Late Model slope
aerodynamic type nose. Nose must be stock appearing for make of car.
SUSPENSION
1. One steel shock per
wheel. NO coil over shocks.
2. Four wheel weight jack devices allowed.
3. No 5th arm traction bars allowed.
4. No adjustable sway bars, stock sway bars only.
5. You must have working brakes on at least 3 (three) wheels.
6. All
suspension components must remain stock except for racing shocks and
springs
that are mounted in stock locations.
(If weight jack devices are installed stock or racing shocks must be located in
close proximity of spring.)
7.
Steering shaft and steering wheel can be modified by adding shaft and quick
release for safety.
8. Steering quickners are allowed.
9. Sweet steering is optional.
10. Stock upper ball joints only. No adjustable or truck ball joints. No cutting
of frame allowed to accept any other ball joint.
11. Stock O.E.M. upper A-Frames or aftermarket tubular A-Frames (lengths must be
stock). They must match frame being used, metric to metric, Chevelle to Chevelle,
etc.. A-Frames may be reinforced along edges by welding round stock (no changing
lengths)
12. Lower rear trailing arms to be stock length to frame being used, metric to
metric, Chevelle to Chevelle, etc…
13. Upper rear trailing may be shortened or lengthened to obtain correct pinion
angle.
14.
Aftermarket bushings are allowed as long as arm is not altered, No slots or
adjustable ends.
15. Rear ends may be 5 (five)
hole or light truck. NO quick changes. No 8 (eight) hole truck rear ends.
Floater rear ends have been approved for safety.
16. Tube type Upper A arms in stock location is fine. No floating bird cage
suspensions allowed. Multi leaf or coil suspension only.
17. No J Bars. Stock components only.
ENGINE
1.
No aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Any cast iron head is allowed.
2. Mufflers are mandatory, muffler inserts are allowed.
3. Every car must have a working starter.
4. Transmissions can be standard or automatic type. Triple disc clutch is
allowed. No Berts or Brinns allowed. No in and out boxes.
5. #1 Spark Plug will be even or ahead of the top ball joint.
No tolerance.
6. No electric
fuel pumps.
7. Battery will be
securely mounted.
8. Racing gas only.
9. Aluminum
intake manifolds are allowed, exhaust headers are allowed. Exhaust must exit
away for track surface.
10. No racing distributors allowed. HEI distributors are allowed. No MSD boxes.
11. Roller tip rockers are allowed.
12. Aluminum radiators are allowed.
13. The 500 CFM 4412 Holley is the only carburetor allowed. The choke blade can
be removed, but the original choke tower must be retained. No other
modifications.
14.
The engine and body must be manufactured by the same corporate manufacturer.
(Ex: GM to GM, Ford to Ford, etc…)
WHEELS AND TIRES
1.
Steel racing wheels up to eight inches maximum width are allowed. No aluminum or
mag wheels or homemade wheels are allowed. One inch lug nuts are mandatory on
both sides of the vehicle.
2. No wheel adapters allowed.
3. One beadlock on either side of car only.
4. The only
tire allowed is the Hoosier Emod tire. D, H, or A compounds (the track may only
allow certain compounds)
SAFETY
1.
A competition-type 4 point roll cage is required and must be constructed with
tubing that is a minimum of one and one-half inches in diameter, with a minimum
of .095 wall thickness. A minimum of three horizontal door bars is required in
the driver’s door. A minimum of three horizontal door bars are required for the
passenger’s side of the car. Three driver protection bars are required in the
windshield ahead of the driver. You may run front and rear bars through the
firewall, with 1 kicker bar to the frame. A radiator protection bar is optional.
2. A competition-type racing seat is required. An aluminum seat is highly
recommended. No plastic racing seats.
3. A five point, three inch safety harness is required.
4. An approved, Snell SA 2000 or a Snell 2005 (Snell sticker must be in helmet)
helmet is required.
5. An approved complete racing fire suit is required. Fireproof gloves,
Fireproof shoes, and neck collar are highly recommended. Also a driver’s side
window net is highly recommended.
6. All batteries that are mounted inside the driver’s compartment must be
completely enclosed in a marine-type box with a lid, and mounted securely
7. All Weights must be securely mounted with two half inch bolts and be painted
white with the car number clearly marked. All weights must be mounted under the
body of the car.
8. Drive shafts must be painted white with car number on it and must remain
white all season.
9. All
vehicles must have securely installed a fire extinguisher in reach of driver.
