F.E.A.R.

RULES OF PARTICIPATION

The Figure Eight Auto Races are produced as an unusual spectator attraction.  In the interest of safety, anyone entering is subject to and must obey the following rules and regulations that are set up by F.E.A.R.

The Figure Eight Auto Race will be composed of individual heat and feature events.  Decisions of the official judges and counters will be final for all events.  No one (drivers, pit crew, family, etc.) allowed on the judges stand.

A. The Promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.

B. Each driver must fill out an entry form.

C. Driver must race only the car that they entered for that class, that night.  Points stay with the driver.

D. Cars must be inspected before it will be allowed to race.  Cars will be inspected at every race. Cars can be randomly checked for certain items at any time or after any race.

E. Please have cars registered at least 1 hour before race time.

F. Any driver can protest another competitor’s car immediately after the event, but must be within 15 minutes after the main the car raced in.  A protest fee of $35.00 cash must accompany protest. Car will be inspected for legal engine, tires, and suspension.  If car found illegal, protesting driver will get $25 back and $10 to inspectors.  If car found legal, the car driver will get $25 and $10 to inspectors.

G. Rules are final prior to the beginning of the race season.  However, the rules are subject for review by the Board, Track Officials, and/or Racing Committee and may be subject to change.

H. All person entering the pit area must sign a waiver of liability.

I. No cars are permitted on the track before the heat in which they are to participate, except for Hot Laps.

J. NO BEER or ALCOHOL will be allowed anywhere in the pit area.  Drinking on the track or in the pit area will result in your removal from the grounds.  Any FIGHTING or BAD LANGUAGE will result in loss of points for that event and possible suspension from future events.  This goes for driver and pit crew.  Drivers you are responsible for your pit crew and followers actions.  Officials’ decisions are FINAL!!

General Flagging Rules:

A. Races will run green flag to checker flag except for roll over, fire, debris on the track, or dangerous situations.  (FLAG MAN discretion)

B. On RESTARTS will go back to line up on last completed lap.

C. NO DELIBERATE HITS.

D. The BLACK FLAG will be used on any driver that the FLAG MAN’S judgment is that the conduct was deliberate.  Be it pushing or rough driving in general.

E. The car will be BLACK FLAGGED if the tire comes off the wheel, unless the car is running in the TOP 3 positions and doesn’t get passed.  If the car is passed it will be BLACK FLAGGED.

F. If car is late to staging and cars are on the track but not racing.  Late car may enter track but must stay at the tail.

G. General Laps:

HEATS - 8 Laps

CONSI’s - 10 Laps (optional)

MAINS - 12 Laps.

STOCK CLASS RULES

Body

1. Any stock American made steel top cars or station wagons.  No convertibles, jeeps, hearses, limos, front wheel drives, el caminos, rancheros, or trucks.

2. No swapping of bodies.  Body and frame must match.

3. All bodies must be bolted down using factory body mount holes.  Body bushings may be removed.  No welding of body to frame from cowl area to rear of car, radiator core support may be welded down to frame.

4. Radiator core support may be removed and replaced with 2x2 angle iron or 1 3/4" roll bar tubing.  Must be in line with or behind radiator and vertically.  Top support can go from fender to fender.  No bracing forward or rearward.  One 1 3/4" pipe between frame rails directly in front of radiator allowed.

5. All bodies must have original steel firewall.

6. May have steel no thicker than 3/16" under driver’s seat and leg area or from center hump to rocker panel welded or bolted to body or cage.  Must retain stock floor on passenger side of car.

7. No welding of floor pan to frame.

8. All holes in firewall and rear seat area must be covered with metal.

9. Both doors must be welded, chained, or bolted shut.

10. Trunk must open.

11. Drivers door only can be reinforced from outside.  A single rub bar no bigger than 1" by 3” and stretching no longer than from wheel to wheel may be installed, by bolting or welding. A steel plate no thicker than 1/8" may be welded from wheel to wheel, and from rocker panel up the side of door 18 inches on drivers side only.

12. Driver and passenger compartment must remain open.  No enclosed cockpits.

13. No reinforcing of any kind on the inside of front fenders, passenger side door, or either side rear quarter panel.  No pipe or steel plate.

14. Single body steel.  All body repairs must be done with thin sheet metal. No plating.  Any patching of body must be no more than 1/16" thick and no more than 2 inches from damaged area.

15. All glass, plastic, upholstery, lights, mirrors, moldings, and chrome must be removed.

16. Car numbers on both doors and on roof plate and easily read.  No spray painted numbers.  Number plate on roof is mandatory.  Numbers on roof plate must be at least 10 inches tall.  Letter may appear behind number and must be at least 6 inches tall.  No four digit numbers allowed.

17. No adding of ballast or weight of any kind anywhere in the car.  In frames, bumpers, body, etc.

18. A 3/8" rod may be welded around fender opening.

Frame

1. Repair of rails from rust or damage from center of rear axle forward must be of 1/4" flat steel or less, no angle, channel, or box iron.

2. Center of rear axle to back bumper can be replaced with 2x3 box tubing no thicker than 1/4" in the stock location.

3. Rear frame rails must be able to safely support bumper and protect fuel tank.

4. Unibody cars can connect front and rear rails together with 2x3 inch box tubing.

5. All repairs must be approved by racing inspector.

Roll Cage

1. Minimum of 4-point cage securely welded to frame.

2. Rear kickers are allowed, but must stay in trunk area.

3. May have two small bars from front of cage behind A-Arms.

4. No bars or reinforcement whatsoever from A-Arms ahead.

5. Must have at least 3 driver’s side door bars.

Safety is priority.  Cages will be inspected; cages appearing unsafe will not race.

Fuel Tanks

1. Must be in trunk area.

2. Original tank must be removed.

3. Tank must be designed for fuel, no homemade fuel tank.

4. No 5-gallon cans or buckets allowed.

5. Boat or plastic tanks ok but must be inside metal box.

6. Fuel cells recommended but not mandatory.  If using a fuel cell with capacity over 5-gallon please try to limit to 8-gallon of fuel.

7. All fuel cells or tanks must be securely fastened down.

Fuel

1. No racing fuel or aviation fuel, pump gas only.

2. Fuel line inside driver’s area must be inside metal tubing.

3. No E-85.

 

 

Fuel Tank Protection

1. May weld in a bar no wider than frame rails across back of trunk with 2 bars going down and 2 bars going ahead to frame or cage kicker bars to form a cage around fuel tank for protection, bars can be no larger than 2 inches.  Not required.

Bumpers

1. Must be stock car bumpers only.

2. No reinforcing inside of bumpers.

3. Must be bolted to frame.

4. Bumper ends must be capped and welded to the body with small strips of metal no taller than the bumper.  Safety chaining of bumpers is allowed.

5. If using plastic nose must use an O.E.M. bumper.

Rear Ends

1. Stock.  Can be welded posi.

Brakes

1. All four brakes must work.  O.E.M. brakes ony.  Must lock up on inspection.

2. No aftermarket brake pedal setups.

Shocks

1. Stock.  No racing shock, no coil over shocks.

2. Must be mounted in stock location and mounts.

Springs

1. Stock.  Stock mounts, stock locations, and no spacers.

Suspension

1. Stock upper and lower A-frames.

2. Stock rear end control arms.

 

Steering

1. No Quick steer.

Drive Shafts

1. Must be painted white.  Must have at least one strap or chain under drive shaft.

Battery

1. One automotive type battery.

2. Securely fastened down and covered inside battery box.

Wheels and Tires

1. Must use 1 inch lug nuts.

2. Can use any rim/racing wheels are legal. No bead lock.

3. Four Ply Radial passenger car tires and racing tires are legal.  Maximum 8" wheel and 10" tire.

4. No Mud Tires.

5. Protection around valve steam allowed.

Radiator

1. Stock or O.E.M. aluminum allowed.  No aluminum racing radiators.  Radiator in stock location.

Engine Stock GM-GM, Ford-Ford, Mopar-Mopar

Stock means stock.

1. Cast iron factory heads.  No aluminum heads.  No aftermarket heads.

2. Flat top or dish pistons only.

3. No roller rockers or roller tip rockers.  No roller cams.

4. Cast iron factory intakes.  No aluminum intakes.

5. Direct bolt on carburetor, no adapter plates, may run 4-barrel carb, must be GM on GM, Ford on Ford, Mopar on Mopar, O.E.M. fuel injected engines allowed.  Electric fuel pumps must have roll over shut off or crash shut off.

6. Cast iron exhaust manifolds with exhaust under car.

7. Engine needs to be in stock location.

8. Stock ignitions.

9. Engine must be able to carry 15 inches of vacuum at 1000 R.P.M.

10. Factory steel pulleys only.

Driver Protection

1. Racing seat mandatory.

2. Fire suits mandatory.

3. Must have 5 point safety harness and window net.

4. Helmets and neck collar.

PRO STOCK CLASS RULES

Body

Frame

2. Center of rear axle to back bumper can be replaced with 2x3 box tubing no thicker than 1/4" in the stock location.

3. Rear frame rails must be able to safely support bumper and protect fuel tank.

4. Unibody cars can connect front and rear rails together with 2x3 inch box tubing.

5. X-ing of frame allowed.

6. All repairs must be approved by racing inspector.

Roll Cage

1. Minimum of 4-point cage securely welded to frame.

2. Rear kickers are allowed, but must stay in trunk area.

3. May have two small bars from front of cage to in front of A-Arms.

4. Must have at least 3 driver’s side door bars.

5. Front loop allowed, maximum 1 ½" tubing, .095 thickness.  Loop no farther forward than front of frame.

Safety is priority.  Cages will be inspected; cages appearing unsafe will not race.

Fuel Tanks

1. Must be in trunk area.

2. Original tank must be removed.

3. Racing fuel cell in metal box.  20 gallon maximum.

4. All fuel cells must be securely fastened down.

Fuel

1. No racing fuel or aviation fuel, pump gas only.

2. Fuel line inside driver’s area must be inside metal tubing.

3. No E-85.

2. Car numbers on both doors and on roof plate.  Numbers on roof plate must be at least 10 inches tall. Letter may appear behind number and must be at least 6 inches tall.  No four digit numbers allowed.

Roll Cage

1. Minimum of 4-point cage securely welded to frame.

2. Must have at least 3 driver’s side door bars.

Safety is priority.  Cages will be inspected; cages appearing unsafe will not race.

Engine

1. No Aluminum Blocks.

Fuel Tanks

1. Must be in trunk area.

2. Original tank must be removed.

3. Tank must be designed for fuel, no homemade tanks.

4. No 5-gallon cans or buckets allowed.

5. Boat or plastic tanks ok but must be inside metal box.

6. Fuel cell recommended but not mandatory.  If using a fuel cell with capacity over 5 gallon please try to limit to 8 gallon of fuel.

7. Fuel line inside driver’s area must be inside metal tubing.
